The changes in the body due to hormone secretion are:- Groth hormones stimulate the growth of bones and soft tissue of body. Antidiuretic hormones secreted by pituitary gland prevent formation of large amount of urine . Thyroxine hormone regulates basal metabolic rate . Adrenal gland is known as gland of emergency.

They are transported generally in the bloodstream, but act only at specific sites called Target organs .

Pancreas is both endocrine as well as exocrine gland . It is an elongated flattened organ which lies behind the stomach, attach to the first section of the small intestine by a duct that transports its digestive juice to the intestine.

The two adrenal glands are present at the top of each kidney. It consists of two parts- The outer portion is called the adrenal cortex and the inner portion is called adrenal medulla.

This is the largest gland of the endocrine system. It is bilobed gland located in the neck at the junction of the trachea and larynx.

It is about the size of a corn and is situated at the base of the brain . It is often referred to as the “Master gland” as it releases many hormones that control other endocrine glands.
