Myopia is a condition in which a person can see objects placed close by but has trouble seeing those farther away. Hypermetropia, on the other hand, is the condition in which a person can see items that are far away but has trouble seeing objects that are close by.
It is recommended that someone with myopia and/or hypermetropia wear bifocal lenses, which have a concave lens in the upper portion and a convex lens in the lower portion. Myopia is corrected by the upper lens, while hypermetropia is corrected by the lower lens.
