To demonstrate hydrotropism in plants.
Procedure :
i. Plant a seedling in a soil-filled vessel.
ii. Place a porous pot filled with water near the seedling.
iii. Leave the set up for a few days.
Observation :
iv. On examining the roots, it is observed that the roots bend towards the source of water and do not grow straight.
Result:
As the roots slant toward the porous water container, it shows that plants exhibit hydrotropism. Hydrotropism is a type of plant growth response in which a gradient in the concentration of water determines the direction of growth.
