What is subedar and Mansabdar?
Mansab is the rank or position on the basis of which the salary of mansabdars was determined. On the other hand, subadar is the governor who was responsible for governing provinces of the Mughal empire.

The Taluqdar collected taxes from peasants and gave them to the Mughal emperor for the betterment of the Mughal empire, whereas the Zamindar collected taxes from the Taluqdar.

Mansabdars were compensated for their services either through salary in case or by being assigned jagirs. Zamindars were landlords since the medieval times who owned almost all agricultural land and employed peasants and farmers to till the land. They also collected revenue from farmers to whom they leased land to.
The Jagirdars were allowed to collect only authorized revenue in accordance with the imperial regulations. The jagirdars employed their own officials like ‘AMIL’ etc. The imperial office kept watch on the Jagirdars. The Diwan of the suba was supposed to prevent the oppression of the peasants by the Jagirdars.

The difference between Mansabdars and Muqtis was their place of residence. Mansabdars served all over the empire while the Muqtis resided primarily in their iqtas.
A jagir was a revenue assignment given as salary to the mansabdars. The mansabdars had to collect revenue from their jagir. However, they were forbidden from residing in it. The revenue was collected for the mansabdars by their servants while the mansabdars themselves served in some other part of the country.
Thus the mansabdar who were paid in cash were called Naqdi and those who were paid through jagir were called Jagirdar.
