Draw Image Formation by Convex Lenses in the following situations and also write the position and nature of the image. (i) at infinity,(ii)beyond the centre of curvature (C), (iii) at the centre of curvature [C or, 2f ], (iv) in between the centre of curvature (C) and focus ( F), (v) at focus(F), (vi) in between focus ( F) and optical centre.

Convex Lenses

(i)When an object is placed at infinity,

Position – at the focus.

Nature – highly diminished and point size.

(ii)Beyond the centre of curvature (C or, 2f)

Position of the image – In between the centre of curvature( C or, 2f) and focus(f)

Nature of image – Real, Inverted , diminished .

(iii) At the centre of curvature [C or, 2f]

Position of the image – at the centre of curvature,

Nature of image – Real, Inverted , Same size .

(iv) In between the centre of curvature(C or 2f ) and focus ( F)

Position of the image -behind the centre of curvature.

Nature of image – Real, Inverted , Magnified (larger than that of the object.

(v) at focus (F)

When an object is placed at the focus,

Position of the image – at infinity.

Nature of image – Real, Inverted, highly Magnified ( much larger than that of the object).

(vi) In between focus(F) and optical centre (O)

When an object is placed in between focus and optical centre,

Position of the image – Same side of the object.

Nature of image – Virtual, erect, highly Magnified ( much larger than that of the object).
