Design an experiment to demonstrate hydrotropism.

To demonstrate hydrotropism in plants.

Procedure :

i. Plant a seedling in a soil-filled vessel.

ii. Place a porous pot filled with water near the seedling.

iii. Leave the set up for a few days.

Observation :

iv. On examining the roots, it is observed that the roots bend towards the source of water and do not grow straight.

Result:

As the roots slant toward the porous water container, it shows that plants exhibit hydrotropism. Hydrotropism is a type of plant growth response in which a gradient in the concentration of water determines the direction of growth.
