Limitations of Newlands’ Law of Octaves are as follows:

(i) Only elements up to calcium are applicable to Newlands\’ Law of Octaves.
(ii) Newland assumed that there were 56 elements in nature and that no new elements could be found.
(iii) Newland combined two elements into one slot in order to fit them into the table. Newland combined dissimilar items with different properties into a single column.
(iv) The element iron (Fe) was separated from other elements with similar characteristics.

Example: Nickel and cobalt.
